Buford, GA

Home of The Mall of Georgia

Owners of Buford homes know it’s fascinating history. More than a century ago, Algernon Sidney Buford came to Georgia to become president of the Atlanta and Richmond Air-Line Railroad. He served as president for two decades and worked in politics and legal services. In 1872, this area of Georgia became a town named after Buford. Buford didn’t have small town visions for Buford homes. As a result, the city grew quickly and was known as the “City of Many Factories” and “the New York of Gwinnett,” according to an article in the News-Herald in 1902. He wanted Buford homes to become a strong industrial presence. For more than sixty years, Buford was the largest city in Gwinnett County and had some of the most significant industrial development throughout the United States.

Buford homes also have a thriving local arts community. There are several annual events devoted to supporting local artists within the community. One such event is Barefoot in the Park, where talented artists showcase their work at events throughout the community.

Buford is the home to the largest shopping mall in the South, The Mall of Georgia. One of the most popular Bufor homes is the Bona Allen Mansion. The mansion was built during 1912 and 1913 by Bona Allen and was occupied by Bona Allen, Jr. after the death of his father. It is on the National Register for Historic Places. The property is now operating as an event facility for owners of Buford homes to throw weddings, parties and socials.

Buford has a population of approximately 14,400.

THE BEST SHOPPING SPOT IN THE SOUTH!

The Mall of Georgia

IT’S HOME TO THE LARGEST MALL IN THE SOUTHEAST  HTTP://WWW.SIMON.COM/MALL/MALL-OF-GEORGIA

The Mall of Georgia opened August 13, 1999. It features stores such as Dillard’sJCPenneyLord & Taylor and Nordstrom . The Mall of Georgia also has a 20 Regal Cinema and an IMAX Theater, which is 1 of about 5 in the State of Georgia

The Mall of Georgia is one of the favorite spots among owners of Buford Homes and visitors alike. This larger than life mall opened in August of 1999 and became known as the largest shopping mall in the Southeastern part of this country. When you walk through the food court section of the mall you will notice that it replicates Union Station. Union Station is one of the most famous historical buildings in Atlanta. Near Macy’s department store shoppers will find a fountain that was inspired from the famous Forsyth Fountain, located is in Savannah Georgia

Shoppers often want to know the mystery of the famous statue on top of the mall. This statue is of Button Gwinnett, who signed the Declaration of Independence and is the namesake of the county. There is lots of shopping and entertainment inside the mall. Make a day of it!
